GeoSketch — Field Rep
Use GeoSketch on the job to draw the living-area sketch. Enter the BlueSky order ticket. Send when the footprint is right. QA can open the same OT later and fix it.
Before you start
- Have the property address and the order ticket (the number at the end of the BlueSky QA URL, e.g. https://hq.blueskyvue.com/#/orders/qa/1903026691).
- Walk the house. Know 1-story vs 1½ vs 2, garage type, porches and decks.
Start a job
- Open GeoSketch.
- Enter Property Address and Order ticket.
- If the aerial looks good: Aerial GeoSketch Version (navy button).
- If there is no usable aerial (trees, new construction, bad imagery): Field Measurement Version (green button).
Always put the OT in first. The sketch auto-saves to that ticket. No OT = QA cannot load it and BlueSky cannot get the sheet.
Aerial GeoSketch
- Confirm the pin is on the correct building. Search again if it landed on the neighbor.
- Zoom with + / − until you can see wall lines. Grainy zoom is OK.
- Tap the roof corner, then tap along the perimeter. Walls snap to whole feet.
- Need an attached porch or garage? Tap an existing wall to start the new area from that line. Drag the fill to move a finished box; drag a yellow handle to stretch.
- Phone: check = close area (needs 3+ walls). Undo = drop last wall. Pencil = draw menu (arrows, rectangle, clear).
- Close the dwelling first, then add garage, porch, deck as separate boxes.
Field Measurement (tape)
- Use N / E / S / W arrows and a length in feet, or the corner arrows for 45° walls, or Place rectangle (width × depth).
- Close area when the box is complete. Repeat for garage and porches.
- Same tagging rules as aerial.
Tag every box (layers icon on the phone)
Tap a section, then set Type / Stories / Foundation. Labels use story first: 1/B, 1.75/S, 1/AG. No living story = just AG, OP, EP, BAL.
| What you see | Type to pick | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Heated living | Dwelling | Set 1 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.5 / 2.75 / 3 / 3.75 and slab, crawl, basement, or pier. |
| Attached garage, nothing above | Garage → Attached / none above | Does not add GLA. |
| Living over the garage | Garage → Built-in | Set stories above (usually 1). |
| Half story over garage | Garage → Half story over garage | Counts ½ story GLA over the garage footprint. |
| Garage in basement | Garage → Basement garage | Set living stories above. |
| Open porch / balcony | Open porch or Balcony | Stamps OP / BAL. Usually no GLA. If there is living above, set stories above. |
| Enclosed porch | Enclosed porch | Stamps EP. Not GLA unless you set living above. |
| Deck / patio | Deck or Patio | Non-living. |
Do not draw the whole house as one box if part is garage or porch. Separate boxes. U-shaped dwelling: draw the U, then fill the middle as its own section (porch, garage, etc.). Labels stay inside each piece.
Send to BlueSky
- Check living area SF on the layers panel. Does it match what you walked?
- Tap the cloud (Send to BlueSky). Wait for Saved to Google Drive.
- That files the client sheet as OT-{ticket}-{address}.jpg and keeps the live sketch as OT-{ticket}.json.
The sketch also auto-saves in the background while you draw. If the phone dies, come back, enter the same OT, tap Load saved sketch.
Do / don’t
| Do | Don’t |
|---|---|
| Enter OT before you draw. | Send a sketch with a blank ticket. |
| Trace the dwelling separate from garage. | Trace gutters or driveway as living area. |
| Snap to existing walls for porches. | Guess 1½ vs 2 — walk it or use ground photos. |
| Undo instead of clearing the whole drawing. | Draw on the neighbor’s roof if the pin is wrong. |
